About Jeremy
Specialized Therapy for Sex Addiction, Pornography Addiction, Betrayal Trauma & Intimacy Concerns
I’m Jeremy Larson, LMFT, LPCC, CSAT, a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor, and Certified Sex Addiction Therapist. I work with adults and couples who are struggling with sex or pornography addiction, betrayal trauma, infidelity, intimacy concerns, anxiety, and relationship disconnection.
My goal is to provide a space where you can talk openly about experiences that may feel difficult, embarrassing, confusing, or overwhelming without being reduced to a diagnosis or judged by the behaviors that brought you to therapy.
Whether you are trying to change compulsive sexual behaviors, understand patterns that continue to repeat, recover after discovering a partner's betrayal, or rebuild intimacy and trust in a relationship, therapy can help you understand what is happening beneath the surface and begin making meaningful changes.
My Approach to Therapy
I believe lasting change involves more than simply stopping a behavior.
For individuals struggling with sex or pornography addiction, recovery often means understanding the emotional patterns, triggers, beliefs, attachment experiences, and coping strategies connected to the behavior. We can work on developing healthier ways to respond to urges, emotions, stress, loneliness, shame, and relationship difficulties while building a life that supports long-term recovery.
For partners experiencing betrayal, therapy may focus on creating emotional safety, understanding trauma responses, establishing boundaries, processing what has happened, and rebuilding trust in yourself and your own perceptions.
For couples, the work may involve understanding the impact of betrayal or disconnection while developing healthier communication, accountability, emotional intimacy, and relationship repair.
Therapy is collaborative. Rather than applying the same formula to everyone, I work to understand your individual experiences, relationships, values, and goals.
Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT)
As a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT), I have specialized training in assessing and treating problematic and compulsive sexual behaviors.
CSAT-informed treatment can provide structure to the recovery process while also looking beyond the behavior itself. Therapy may include identifying triggers and behavioral patterns, understanding the cycle of addiction, developing relapse-prevention strategies, addressing shame, strengthening emotional regulation, exploring attachment and intimacy patterns, and developing healthier ways of connecting with yourself and others.
When appropriate, treatment can also address the impact that sexual behaviors, secrecy, or infidelity have had on a partner and relationship.
Areas I Specialize In
My practice has a particular focus on:
Sex addiction and compulsive sexual behavior
Pornography addiction and problematic pornography use
Betrayal trauma
Infidelity and affair recovery
Intimacy disorders and difficulty with emotional or sexual intimacy
Relationship disconnection and rebuilding trust
Anxiety and shame connected to sexual concerns
Attachment and relationship patterns
Relapse prevention and long-term recovery
I also work with clients who may be asking a more basic question: “Why do I keep doing this when I genuinely want to stop?”
Understanding that question can become an important part of treatment.
More Than Stopping the Behavior
For many people, stopping pornography use, compulsive sexual behavior, affairs, or other unwanted behaviors is only one part of recovery.
The larger questions can become:
What purpose has this behavior been serving?
What happens emotionally before I act out?
Why do certain situations or feelings trigger such powerful urges?
How do I develop healthier ways of coping?
How do I become someone I can trust again?
How do we rebuild intimacy after trust has been damaged?
These are the kinds of questions we can explore together.
The goal isn't simply abstinence. It is developing greater awareness, emotional resilience, healthy intimacy, meaningful relationships, and choices that are more consistent with the life you want to live.
Therapy That Balances Accountability and Compassion
Recovery requires accountability, but accountability does not have to mean humiliation or shame.
I believe people can take meaningful responsibility for their choices while also becoming curious about the experiences, emotions, and patterns that contributed to those choices.
Therapy can provide a place to examine both.
We can identify behaviors that need to change while also understanding what has kept those behaviors going. This combination can help move recovery beyond willpower or “white-knuckling” toward more sustainable change.
Individual and Couples Therapy
I work with both individuals and couples.
Individual therapy may focus on recovery from sex or pornography addiction, understanding compulsive behavior, managing urges and triggers, intimacy concerns, anxiety, attachment patterns, shame, or personal growth.
For partners who have experienced betrayal, individual therapy can provide a place to process the emotional impact of discovery, regain a sense of stability, establish boundaries, and begin rebuilding trust in yourself.
Couples therapy may focus on betrayal and infidelity recovery, communication, accountability, rebuilding emotional safety, understanding relationship patterns, and gradually restoring intimacy and connection.
The needs of the person working toward recovery and the needs of the betrayed partner are not always the same. Therapy should recognize and respect both.
My Professional Background
I hold a Master of Science in Counseling with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from California State University, Fullerton and a Master of Science in Criminal Justice with an emphasis in Criminal Profiling from Tiffin University.
My professional credentials include:
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)
Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC)
Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT)
My clinical work integrates specialized addiction treatment with approaches that may include attachment-focused therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS)-informed concepts, motivational interviewing, mindfulness, trauma-informed care, relapse-prevention work, and evidence-informed couples interventions.
Treatment is tailored to the person rather than forcing the person into a particular therapeutic model.
You Don't Have to Have Everything Figured Out Before Starting
People often reach out for therapy while feeling uncertain.
You may know something needs to change but not know exactly what that change should look like. You may have tried repeatedly to stop a behavior and found yourself returning to it. You may have recently discovered a partner's behavior and feel unsure what to believe or what to do next. Or you may simply recognize that intimacy, sexuality, or relationships have become a source of distress rather than connection.
You don't need to arrive with all of the answers.
Therapy can be a place to begin understanding the questions.
